Trying Out IGK Hair Products

Sunday, 25 February 2018

Its been a while since I've bought anything new for my hair. I am probably one of the laziest people when it comes to my hair, I'm just not very good at making it look presentable. I have the most unruly, frizzy, curly hair. Its been the bane of my life since I can remember, I had a combination of an afro and perm as a kid. But for a few years now I've been growing my hair as I've always had this dream to have really long hair. And for once it's actually getting there. Don't get me wrong I still have a long way to go but it's the longest it's ever been and I'm not complaining.

It Was Time For A Change

Saturday, 30 April 2016

I'm not a very outgoing, spontaneous person, I never have been. I stick to what I know, stay within comfort zones and just get on with life. There are many things I've thought about changing in my life. My fitness level and overall health is something I'm massively keen to get back on track. My style I want to mix up a bit. But my hair is one of those things where I haven't really changed for years.
As crazy as this is going to sound my hair is pretty sacred to me, I know such a bloody girly stupid thing to say. But I've always had issues with it. As a kid I had what I called my afro but essentially short ringlety frizzy hair and it was just atrocious. And discovering straighteners as a teenager meant I overdid it and well my hair essentially died from the heat. I've kept my hair the same for as long as I can remember really, only getting the ends trimmed. I feel like you're a bit limited when you have curly hair. For years I've been trying to grow it and finally it's got a bit longer now. But it still has a way to go to what I want it to be (below the boobage area).
I've been contemplating getting a dip dye for ages and I've finally taken the plunge. I didn't want my whole hair done as dare I say it I like my natural hair colour. I got the ends dip dyed in this gorgeous vibrant purple and I bloody love it. I think the colour is gorgeous and goes so well with my dark hair. I literally am so happy with it.

I'm now a proud member of the dip dye club, I just feel a bit revamped now. Maybe I should think about making some other spontaneous decisions.

The Hair Game Changer

Tuesday, 30 June 2015

I have wanted long hair for the longest time, pun intended. My hair has never really grown due to my own stupidity. Naturally I have frizzy curly hair that looks like a wig half the time. Let's just say volume is something it doesn't lack. So I used to straighten it to death every day without using any form of heat protectant while I was in school. To the point where it had no life. Three years later and I can't believe how my approach has changed. I now hate my hair straight, it's all about having a bit of curl/wave. Don't get me wrong sometimes I have to straighten parts of it just to sort it out a bit. But now I sometimes even go out with my hair still damp and let it air dry, a thought that years ago terrified me.
The Lee Stafford treatment for hair that never grows past a certain length has been the ultimate game changer. My hair is now pretty long for me. I would say it's potentially the longest it's ever been and I am loving every single second of it. This treatment is by far the main reason for it. I use it every time I wash my hair and it's just amazing. The smell is divine, the texture isn't too oily and my hair just feel so strong now. I haven't used it continuously as I can't afford it all the time, but I just know it's done my hair so much good. I still feel it has a long way to go but it's getting there. Slowly I'm becoming more happy with the frizzy mess I have to deal with daily.

The Lazy Day Dress

Monday, 1 September 2014

Lately I've been having a few 'lazy days', lazy being used in the terms of getting ready and looking presentable haha. I've been spending days just chilling  at home doing some sewing and starting to determine what I need to take back to uni for my final year (scary stuff!). Usually when I have a lazy day I tend to chuck on a pair of trackies/ sweatpants and one of my comfiest t-shirts. However recently I have loved wearing this grid patterned smock dress I picked up from Topshop a few months back. I'm a bit sceptical about smock dresses on my body as I am naturally broad so feel like they aren't the most flattering of dresses on me. However I think this one isn't to bad! It comes up huge as this dress is a size 10, I would normally wear a 14/16 but that size swamped me when I tried it on. It's such a light dress and is super comfy. I love the combination of the lilac shades of purple and grey together. I can't resist a bit of purple as you know! I never thought I would wear dresses on days where I'm not doing anything but it appears I rather enjoy it.

In terms of hair and make up I literally am so lazy! If I'm not going out then I choose to not really put make up. I may put a little bit of mascara but lately I haven't even been doing that. I love make up but I think it's important to let my skin breathe from time to time. Most of the time I am comfortable with venturing into public without make up on even if I look like I'm ill (obviously there are days where I don't want to). My hair I usually just brush and leave. I washed my hair last night and just left it to air dry. It's naturally curly like this and I'm kind of digging it lately. I've got into a routine of applying some hair products that I think are really helping maintain the health and curly nature of my hair whilst I attempt to grow it longer.

I need to get out of these lazy days as I got back to uni in what a couple of weeks now! I'm not ready for third year at all!!

Top- New Look
Black leggings- Asos
Shoes- Primark
Necklace- Regal Rose
Hair- wild

I'm going through a phase at the moment where I dislike pretty much everything in my wardrobe. I'm looking at loads of things thinking why the hell did you buy that! I rediscovered this baby blue short sleeved jumper I bought in the spring time from New Look. It's slightly colder here and raining as I am typing this. So I felt like it was acceptable to wear a jumper even though it's suppose to be August. I love wearing my black tube pants (how they're described on the Asos website). Not gonna lie when I first got them bloody hell they were uncomfortable. The waistband has like no give in it. However I've persisted and now they are actually quite loose around the waist. Either I've lost some weight or they've stretched (I'll just tell myself the first option) haha! My necklace I bought from the clothes show live a couple of years back from the Regal and Rose stall that was there.
I think the title of this is appropriate as sadly I'm having to chuck these pair of shoes. There is somehow a massive crack through the sole making them unwearable. Can we please just have a moment to mourn the shoes....
I now want some actual Doc Marten style brogues.
Now I'm gonna go back to convincing myself to do some work even though it's not going to happen and listening to Lower than Atlantis. My personal favourite song right now is Here We Go, have a listen if you want!

Miracle Hair duo

Wednesday, 16 July 2014

I am in no way and expert when it comes to hair. In fact I'm pretty terrible. Naturally I have extremely curly hair that always goes frizzy every time I brush/ comb/ style it so I used to reach from my straighteners every single day.

But after years of over straightening and not using heat protectant (sorry) I had done the damage and my hair had to be cut off as it was completely ruined. A goal of mine for years has been to have long hair and it's finally growing!! yay :D

But obviously with my wanting length I've had to tone down the heat styling and embrace the curls, and I feel like I've found two products that actually work for me.

VO5 Mega Hold weather resistant styling mousse

This stuff is honestly a life saver. Many people have told me that mousse is a must have if you have curly hair. However I had never used it before buying this beauty. My hair has been so much easier to control since using it and now I can't imagine not having it in my life. When pumping it into your hand it's scary at first because it expands loads and I always think I've got way too much. But it's quick and easy to distribute evenly through the hair and doesn't leave my hair feeling sticky which is the main thing I was concerned about. I believe it does what it says on the tin- strong control and 24 hour hold

Frizz Ease Go Curlier 48 hour curls heat- activated spray
Frizz ease was clearly made for me. I love this as it creates such nice waves. As my hair is getting longer the curls are starting to become less poodle like which is making me very happy. This spray is light, smells amazing and adds the softness I have wanted for a while! It says its best to blow dry with a diffuser which I don't own but I can imagine the result would be lovely. I leave my hair to air dry most of the time and it still produces soft curls.

I'm so happy I'm now starting to come up with  a hair routine I'm happy with. I actually need to get it cut but I'm too scared as it's taken so long to grow that I don't want some hairdresser just chopping half of it off. It's happened to me so many times that I have cried.

Have you used these products before??
