Missguided- top and skirt co-ord

New Look- T-shirt

New Look- baby blue coat

So I thought I would share a few things I have bought recently. I've tried to not buy as much over the summer and think I've done pretty well! However a girl who loves clothes needs a few new additions.

I needed an outfit for a party I was invited to, it was almost like a bit of a school reunion. I decided to look on Missguided and see what they had to offer. I've been a bit funny about their clothes before as their sizing is quite small. However it turned out well. I joined the co-ord trend and decided to buy this set above. It consists of an A line skirt and boxy crop t-shirt. It's monochrome which I live in and has a floral print. They both fit really well and I got complimented a few times wearing it which was nice haha. The great thing about it is that the pieces can be worn separately which is perfect.

The t-shirt I bought on a trip to a local town near my uni. I got the keys to my house and decided to look round. I liked it as it's simple yet has a twist with the fringing details on the bottom.

I have wanted a baby blue coat for such a long time! Saw this coat on Asos as part of the New Look range and had to get it. I love the colour and the length. The quality of it isn't as good as I thought it would be but I can't let go of it. The fabric is quite a fuzzy texture so might be a tad itchy around the neck. However I think its going to be a nice addition and adds interest to my wardrobe. I love the big lapels on it and it has shaping at the back so it sits nicely on my body shape.

Made a check shirt

Friday, 5 September 2014

I haven't really spoke about my course I'm doing at uni for ages! If you don't know I'm studying costume production. From what others have said sewing is usually seen as a but if an old woman things to do but I've loved it since I was about 8. It all started with cross stitching and progressed. I don't tend to actually do a lot of it in my free time. I guess that's due to the fact I do so much of for so many hours pretty much every week day whilst in college. However whilst being at home I've had urges to sew and wanted to practice skills I'd already done.
Earlier this year I made a check shirt for one of the shows I worked on. It was a pretty stressful time (I got so ill!) and a lot of the shirt didn't go that great. So I thought I would remake it and see if it's any better. I'm really happy with the outcome. Flat fell seams I hate as they are sooo hard to do!! I found exactly the same fabric and made it in the same size. It's made from a poly cotton and I love the pattern on it. I think people usually see a shirt and don't realise how much skill it actually takes to make one. I'm now tempted to make one for myself in different colours (I saw a green and pink fabric that I love!).
I need to press it and pick out the tacking threads (absolute pain). But yeah my sewing is getting slightly better and I'm proud I actually finished It. It took a long time but I wasn't in any rush, if it was for a show again I would have had to hurry up. I made it in just over a week.
I also took some shots of my favourite sewing themed things I own. My pin tin I love as it's really cute and I got it for free so can't moan.

Hope you like seeing a bit of a sewing themed post. I hope to do more of them soon :)

The Lazy Day Dress

Monday, 1 September 2014

Lately I've been having a few 'lazy days', lazy being used in the terms of getting ready and looking presentable haha. I've been spending days just chilling  at home doing some sewing and starting to determine what I need to take back to uni for my final year (scary stuff!). Usually when I have a lazy day I tend to chuck on a pair of trackies/ sweatpants and one of my comfiest t-shirts. However recently I have loved wearing this grid patterned smock dress I picked up from Topshop a few months back. I'm a bit sceptical about smock dresses on my body as I am naturally broad so feel like they aren't the most flattering of dresses on me. However I think this one isn't to bad! It comes up huge as this dress is a size 10, I would normally wear a 14/16 but that size swamped me when I tried it on. It's such a light dress and is super comfy. I love the combination of the lilac shades of purple and grey together. I can't resist a bit of purple as you know! I never thought I would wear dresses on days where I'm not doing anything but it appears I rather enjoy it.

In terms of hair and make up I literally am so lazy! If I'm not going out then I choose to not really put make up. I may put a little bit of mascara but lately I haven't even been doing that. I love make up but I think it's important to let my skin breathe from time to time. Most of the time I am comfortable with venturing into public without make up on even if I look like I'm ill (obviously there are days where I don't want to). My hair I usually just brush and leave. I washed my hair last night and just left it to air dry. It's naturally curly like this and I'm kind of digging it lately. I've got into a routine of applying some hair products that I think are really helping maintain the health and curly nature of my hair whilst I attempt to grow it longer.

I need to get out of these lazy days as I got back to uni in what a couple of weeks now! I'm not ready for third year at all!!

Great Divide

Tuesday, 26 August 2014

I don't if this is of any interest to anyone, but I want to write things I'm personally interested in and it may give you an incite into what I like a bit more. So being the music junkie I am, I just felt I had to write about my excitement for an album I have been waiting to get my grubby hands on for what feels like forever!!. The album is called Great Divide by the glorious Twin Atlantic. If you don't know who Twin Atlantic are then they are a four piece rock band from Scotland. My friend introduced me to them a couple of years ago and I've been hooked ever since.

Total number of times I've seen them- 4 (I hope to see them again soon)

I would highly recommend this album!! I mean to be honest I doubt I'm going to hate any song they release. This album seems to have a very versatile sounds compared to their last album. I love the fact they create songs that easy to listen to, chorus' you can grasp straight away and the occasional really heavy guitar parts.

The lyrics I love as I feel like they're written for a purpose. So many songs in my opinion nowadays feature lyrics that don't really mean anything, only saying what people think is the norm. Globalisolation and Be a Kid are the perfect examples of lyrics I think are interesting to listen to. If you want a fun song listen to I am an Animal, I bet you can't get through the whole song without doing some form of dancing haha (challenge accepted??)

Heart and Soul and Brothers and Sisters are singles that you may have heard on the radio.

They're a band that are quickly rising in popularity and fully deserve it. I would highly recommend giving this album a listen. Anyone else a Twin Atlantic fan??

Covered in Elephants

jumpsuit- New Look (in the sale)
Fedora hat- H&M
Sandals- New Look

Elephant prints appear to be my thing at the moment, I constantly wear the skirt I got from Asos that features them and now I have this amazing jumpsuit. Every time I've gone into New Look recently I've seen it but never bothered to try it on. Once I saw it was on sale in my local store I knew I had to get it. It comes with a black studded belt too but I wanted to be extra comfy. Thank god for the elasticated waist. oh and added bonus it has pockets, WIN!  Today I went for a little venture into London to a couple of museums to do research for my third year project so I needed something that was comfortable to wear. It felt like the perfect mix of comfort but still looking 'trendy' (fyi I don't believe I am trendy at all). Being obsessed with blogging and watching Youtubers I have seen many of my favourite people wearing Fedora hats. I finally took the plunge and bought one a few weeks ago from H&M and I'm not going to lie I love it. I didn't realise how much people looked if you wore a hat, I definitely caught a few people staring on the train I got. Is it really that unusual for someone to wear a hat?? My sandals are a dream! Well saying that my feet are kinda paying the price now  ( hence why I'm not wearing them in the photos) but I'm still breaking them in. Plus my feet are so weak its getting quite worrying now :/. My mum actually spotted them and I just instantly had to have them. I love a chunky pair of sandals and with the cream colour I think they tick all the right boxes for summer.

I need to get some better background for outfit photos I know but right now I have to work with what I can :)
