How Is It Nearly Christmas!

Friday 15 December 2017

It's been a little quiet on here huh, I cannot believe it is nearly Christmas already! I just felt like writing a little catch up post on here. I know everyone says it but for real where has this year gone. I really wanted to do some kind of Christmas post on here because I do love this time of year. Being a massive nerd about fairy lights, I love seeing lights on peoples houses. It just makes me so happy. Plus everyone (apart from the men in my family who are complete Scrooge's) seem to be a lot more cheery.

I've been so thankful to have a few days off in December as life seems to get so much more hectic. Work has been so stressful and I've been feeling pretty low. Also I've had the flu so I was stuck in bed for a few days. Does anyone else always get ill in the run up to Christmas? I guess it's the stress of it all. Christmas day this year is going to be a little strange as it will be just me, my mum, my sister, her girlfriend and my boyfriend. My family unfortunately can't all be together so we're going to have our Christmas day a few days later. So my plan for the 25th is drink a lot of prosecco, eat a lot of buffet food and play board games.

Hows your Christmas shopping going?? For the first time in my life I have actually finished and wrapping is underway. I've tried to get a little fancy, but I'm still shit at wrapping gifts. It's not one of my strongest skills. I found these adorable glittery parcel baubles from Wilkinson's and I just had to incorporate them on the presents. They look alright I think... I really struggle to come up with gift ideas so I just hope my family and friends like them.

But yeah just a short post today, I would love to get some festive baking done over the weekend and get prepared for my final week of work before Christmas. Hope you have an amazing Friday evening!

Glossier Treats

Tuesday 31 October 2017

First of HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!, oh I am so so excited that the spookiest day of the year is here. I mean I've spent majority of the day at work but what can you do! I hope you've all had a wonderful day full of treats (and maybe a few tricks).
Speaking of treats, today I wanted to share with you some items I've got recently. I had to get involved with trying out some products from Glossier. So as soon as they launched in the UK I made a cheeky little purchase and wanted to see for myself what the hype was about. I haven't managed to try out one of the products yet but I will get round to it. The first three of these products are part of the Phase 1 set.

Crete 2017

Tuesday 24 October 2017

Last week I went on a week long holiday to the beautiful island of Crete. I cannot say how grateful I am whenever I get to go away and see a new place as I've had years where I simply could not afford it. A week of chill, sun and spending time with my boyfriend Ben. Both of us had never been anywhere in Greece so it was so exciting to experience a new culture.

My Five Make up Must Haves

Sunday 8 October 2017

I'm so happy October is here, my favourite month of the year (along with December) for obvious reasons. September was a really stressful month for me in terms of work, and its still pretty hectic now. Trust me this is relevant to this post I promise...

As I've been limited with time, my make up has been pretty boring and it got me thinking what products I always reach for. Like a capsule wardrobe (something I fail at majorly), everyone has some make up items they always reach for, so I thought I'd share the five I'm always reaching for and what I call my must haves.

Kat Von D beauty is personally one of my favourite brands for many reasons, the products are great, packaging is great and has a Gothic and dark feel to it (something I dig being a goth at heart). I bought this powder back in May when I visited Birmingham with my boyfriend Ben and have been using constantly since. I haven't tried many powders but I love this one as it just soaks into my skin and doesn't highlight the dry skin I suffer from. I always struggle to get the lid back on the powder as I'm bloody stupid.

Topshop Wishlist

Monday 28 August 2017

Happy bank holiday weekend! Do we even say that for bank holidays...
Anyways today I thought as it's a rare Monday that we mostly have off (sorry people in retail jobs trust me I've been there, it's shit as bank holidays are a nightmare) I thought many people would be scrolling the internet, so I thought I would put together a little post about some piece I'm loving from Topshop.
Dare I say it, usually Topshop and I don't get along, purely as I don't feel cool or thin enough to pull off their clothes. But lately I've had a change of heart and recently found some items I would love to add to my wardrobe.

I do love a bit of embroidery and I think it was the yellow that drew me to this skirt. To me it just screams summer and denim skirts are so easy to just thrown on. I'm not so sure on the 'mini' length of it as I have chunky legs but it looks cute and I would love to wear it when I get to go on holiday.

Taking Time Out

Thursday 24 August 2017

The only word I can use to describe life at the moment is hectic!! I've been trying to juggle too many things at once and it;s been overwhelming to say the least. I now finally have a full time job which I'm really enjoying, although the last couple of weeks ain't been that great due to me putting a lot of pressure on myself. But I'm really enjoying it and costume making work is for now taking a back seat. That's not to say I won't do it all, but I've recently had some freelancing work and have not enjoyed the experience.
Last weekend and this weekend I've actually had the chance to relax and chill out. Being a natural worrier in every aspect of life, I find it really hard to actually forget about things and really de stress. I really want to have some time to chill, can October hurry up so I get to go on holiday!!

Two New Make Up Additions

Tuesday 8 August 2017

Hands up who has been terrible at writing on here recently *guilty* I've not posted on here in so so long! All I can say is I'm sorry. You know when you don't know where time has gone, yeah it was April and now somehow it's August... what the hell. Soon it will be Autumn and that means my favourite spooky day is almost here. I've been getting used to having a full time job, I'm actually so grateful to have a 9-5 job at the moment, finishing before 10 pm is amazing!

Anyways today I wanted to share with two new products that I've added to my "little" make up collection. The wishlist of make up products is getting pretty bad but I've re-discovered my love for it.

An Outfit from Day to Night featuring Aurate Jewellery

Monday 24 April 2017

There are some situations that stress me out and one that always stresses me out is when I have to go out straight after work. It's not like you ever have a large amount of time to get ready so somehow you've got to create a new look in a limited time. Now I work in a job where I can dress pretty casual, but I wanted to get in the mind set of if I worked in an environment where you have to look professional (you know the jobs where jeans aren't an option).

For me it's all about changing up your accessories, keep the base of your outfit simple but switch up a few things and you are sure to find a winning outfit. So change your shoes, bag and of course jewellery. I have featured three stunning jewellery pieces from AUrate which are perfect for transitioning your outfit from day to night and make you feel special. I mean a bit of sparkle and immediately you feel a lot better baout any situation.

Turning 23...

Monday 17 April 2017

So on the 8th of April I turned 23 and it's dawned on me that soon I will be in my mid twenties. I feel like it was only yesterday that I was celebrating turning 18! Seriously where had those five years gone. What exactly are you meant to do when you're 23, its kind of a boring age. People keep mentioning that soon you will be getting married and the whole kids thing but why is there such a rush to be grown up. I'm scared as I feel like I'm at an age now where I should get my shit together and actually know what I'm doing. I'm partially getting my life back on track as I've now gone full time at my internship so I've left the retail world finally. Although things are testing me slightly, i.e my car got a cracked windscreen and lost a hubcap in the same week. That's my luck really! Plus April is a bloody busy month for me, so many birthdays to deal with I am broke.

I didn't do anything wild for my birthday hence why no photos were taken, but we had fantastic weather for once and i wasn't working on my actual birthday which was a bonus. I spent the day relaxing with my family and then Ben and I went for dinner at TGI's and both treated ourselves to a drink as it's rare that we get to do that.

Yeah this one was a bit of a random post but I guess it was a catch up, it's nice to just type about life. I hope everyone had a lovely Easter and enjoyed the four day weekend.

Mint and Metallic

Saturday 25 March 2017

I may have slightly lost the plot and I know my boyfriend will absolutely hate these but I haven't been this excited about buying a pair of shoes (I know how pathetic I sound) in a very long time. Lately I've been pretty boring with my whole 'style' as I'm not happy with my body. Everyone says fashion is about what you want to wear which I completely agree with. However at the end of the day I don't want to draw attention to myself if I hate the way I look. So I've been living in a baggy top and leggings nightmare and I really want to discover my old self again, which means starting to love putting outfits together.

Now I am a shoe girl at heart, I just love them. So I thought I would have a little look on the River Island website randomly and came across these gorgeous metallic mint green loafers and I just couldn't resist. My theory was simple - if I'm wearing dull outfits that I feel rubbish in then I need a jazzy pair of shoes to cheer me up. See a completely justified purchase...
Metallic shoes seem to be everywhere at the moment so I thought I would try a fun way to include the trend into my wardrobe. And with spring on the way I just want to wear some more colour. I've also seen a pair of metallic purple shoes from Primark which I would love to get my hands on.

I'm having a really productive Saturday morning and I'm just so grateful to have weekends off again like normal people. What do you guys think I should pair these shoes with??

Lanzarote Photo Diary

Friday 3 March 2017

Here I am with another little holiday photo diary. There were many years where I didn't go away once and it got to the point where I was going insane and needed a break away. I've been fortunate enough to go on a couple of holidays over the last year and I cannot tell you how grateful I am to experience a few days away. I was lucky enough to be invited to go to Lanzarote with my boyfriend and his family for a week.
I wanted to experience a week of blue skies, sun and just pure relaxation. I sort of got that... minus getting sunburnt on the first day and then catching the flu on the second day and it lasting the whole week I was there. But I still had an amazing time and I would love to go back.

Make Up Wishlist #1

Sunday 19 February 2017

So I thought I'd share some make up I really want to get my hands on. Again I'm in the mood to spend money... whats new there then. Lately I've been wanting to purchase a lot of make up. I blame watching a few too many YouTube videos and tutorials so it instigates me to want more things. Plus I've been so lazy and done the same look forever I need some new items to play with!

Two items in particular I have wanted for ages!! The first being the Morphe Fall Into The Frost palette, look how pretty those colours are. There quite Autumnal shades so I think that's what I like about it, I just want it to be October again. The second being the Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter and Glow Liquid Eye Shadow, oh my god they look so beautiful. I'm really wanting the shade Rose Gold Retro. Pure sparkly goodness. Had to chuck in a bit of Charlotte Tilbury as I just love her and the brand, would love her to do my make up one day but a girl can dream.

Have to say I'm quite happy with how this collage turned out, I did a lot of playing around on Photoshop and I kinda love how it turned out. Also I'm off on holiday tomorrow for a week to Lanzarote. I cannot wait to have a break and hopefully get some sun.

Yeah I'll stop rambling on now.

Skincare Loves for January

Tuesday 7 February 2017

In all aspects of my life lately I have become lazy and skincare is no exception. I'm one of those people that quickly washes my face in the morning but that's it. I know its terrible right. So I thought it was about time that I tested out some new things and see how they turn out. So here are a skincare few items I loved using during January.

Biore Deep Cleansing Charcoal Pore Strips
It was actually my boyfriend that originally wanted to try these out. I love these purely because you can see the amount of crap they have taken out of your pores when you take it off. I won't lie it hurts loads peeling these off your nose, tip just get it over and done with quickly. But yeah they are a simple strip to use on your nose and I now definitely notice my pores a lot more.

Institut Esthederm Osmoclean Hydra-Replenshing Cleansing Milk
This cleansing milk is so so good. It has become my daily cleanser and by far my most used skincare item. The reason why I love this is because the texture of it is so smooth and feels really calming on my face. I got this particular product as I read its good for sensitive skin and my skin gets really red especially during the winter months. I literally love it.

Mario Badescu Almond and Honey Face Scrub

This face scrub is so satisfying to use. I tend to go for products that exfoliate because I have really dry skin particularly between my eyebrows. This scrub again is really soothing on the skin and it smells like bakewell tart which I'm not opposed to. There are quite big bits of almond so they can be really rubbed into the skin.

L'Oreal Pure Clay Glow Mask
I believe these are relatively new out but I was really intrigued by the advert I saw on the TV. I bought the brightens and exfoliates version which is a red colour. I've only used this a couple of times but so far so good. I was afraid the colour was going to stain my skin but pleased to say I didn't end orange. Again there are small bits to help exfoliate. Its good because the clay firms up on the face and washes off easily. It has made my skin feel really soft, so far so good!

If anyone has any skin care recommendations leave them in a comment, you know me I'm always on the hunt to try out new products.

Hello 2017...

Thursday 12 January 2017

Well first off Happy New Year, so so late I know. I hope everyone had a great evening indulging in a few drinks and dancing the night away (or if you're me having a glass of prosecco and then going to bed as you had work the next morning boo!). Now I won't lie New Years is my least favourite time of the year, probably because I love the build up to Christmas and now its over. I'm not a huge fan of New Years Resolutions but it is a time when you reflect on what you want to achieve so I thought  would write some new goals. Also I've been stuck in bed with the flu over the last few days so it's been a cracking start to the year already...

1. Find my passion for things again
Over the last few months I've kinda lost my way in life in general. I've had a lot of days where I haven't even wanted to get out of my bed and I've never experienced that before. I just have had no desire to do anything (well apart from cuddle with my boyfriend all of the time, cringe!) but it's time to focus on changing that. I guess being stuck in a job that lets face it depresses me and not being able to find work in costume making has got me down. But I've managed to bag a little paid internship so that is a start. And in terms of costume making I'm just going to make stuff for fun, I miss sewing and creating so much!

2. Post on this damn blog
The amount of posts on here has dwindled and the reason for it... I honestly couldn't tell you why. I think part of the reason is not being happy within myself. I need to gain more self love in order to do more posts I want to like outfit posts. But I'm gonna write a bunch of ideas and I'll hopefully get back to posting lots soon.

3.Travel more
Last year I got to go on two holidays which is insane. For most people they'd be like why is that exciting but I hadn't been away in years and really did appreciate the breaks away. After visiting Venice with my boyfriend Ben and experiencing a whole new culture we are dieing to go travelling. There are so many places we want to travel to and we are heading on a little holiday soon to Lanzarote which I am very excited about!

4. Make Healthier choices
I've written it many times on here... I lost weight I've gained it all again so hating myself big time right now. I guess food is unfortunately a comfort for me and I like eating. So I would like to exercise and find a way to enjoy it again and get a buzz from it. But mainly discover what healthy eating is again. Seriously before I went to university I was so healthy and my willpower was on point, now I'm terrible and always wanting chocolate... help!

5. Reach out more to friends
I've lost contact and been terrible at seeing my friends recently so I'd really like to make more of an effort. I've been slowly introducing my boyfriend into my friendship group which is exciting as I never thought I would have the opportunity to do that. But yeah I need to have more chats and I miss a lot of people.

Well lets see what 2017 has to offer then shall we...
