Quick Fix Facials- Exfoliating Scrub Mask

Thursday 28 August 2014

Apologies for the lack of inventive posts lately, I don't know why but I've had a few unproductive days. I need to get my dare I say 'mojo' back haha!
I don't own many skin care products making me the ultimate lazy girl. I need to invest in some more products as I want to improve my skin as I feel like it looks a bit dull lately. I'm quite lucky in the sense that I don't really suffer from spots too often. I suffer from dry/combination skin so exfoliating is really important. I picked up the Quick Fix Exfoliating Scrub mask on a trip to Boots a few months ago. It is amazing!! Its a bargain as well at £4.99.
It's really refreshing to put on the skin and doesn't feel to heavy. It contains a mixture of pink rose clay, pomegranate extract and glycolic acid helping balance out your skin tone and cleanse. It doesn't have an unpleasant smell either which to me is so important as I'm not going to smother something on my face that smells disgusting.
You simply dampen your face, squeeze out a decent amount and massage it for about a minute all over your face and neck. I usually rub it in circular motions. It contains beads which start to exfoliate your skin when you massage it into your face. Leave it for 5-10 minutes and rinse of with warm water. I have to use a flannel to help remove it as it's a bit stubborn to get off with just water.
After I've washed it off my skin feels so soft and has a slight glow. I love it as I feel like it's a treat. I think it'd be perfect if your having a girls night in or fancy a bit of a pamper. And it won't break the bank.

Great Divide

Tuesday 26 August 2014

I don't if this is of any interest to anyone, but I want to write things I'm personally interested in and it may give you an incite into what I like a bit more. So being the music junkie I am, I just felt I had to write about my excitement for an album I have been waiting to get my grubby hands on for what feels like forever!!. The album is called Great Divide by the glorious Twin Atlantic. If you don't know who Twin Atlantic are then they are a four piece rock band from Scotland. My friend introduced me to them a couple of years ago and I've been hooked ever since.

Total number of times I've seen them- 4 (I hope to see them again soon)

I would highly recommend this album!! I mean to be honest I doubt I'm going to hate any song they release. This album seems to have a very versatile sounds compared to their last album. I love the fact they create songs that easy to listen to, chorus' you can grasp straight away and the occasional really heavy guitar parts.

The lyrics I love as I feel like they're written for a purpose. So many songs in my opinion nowadays feature lyrics that don't really mean anything, only saying what people think is the norm. Globalisolation and Be a Kid are the perfect examples of lyrics I think are interesting to listen to. If you want a fun song listen to I am an Animal, I bet you can't get through the whole song without doing some form of dancing haha (challenge accepted??)

Heart and Soul and Brothers and Sisters are singles that you may have heard on the radio.

They're a band that are quickly rising in popularity and fully deserve it. I would highly recommend giving this album a listen. Anyone else a Twin Atlantic fan??

Butterfly World

Sunday 24 August 2014

Yesterday I took a trip to Butterfly world with my best friend Charlotte and her mum. It was good to get out of my house and simple have a nice day outdoors. It got me out of my sulk about not being at Reading (I'm like a child) but seriously it looks soo good!!. Anyways we got to see many different insects and some kids even were holding cockroaches which fair play to them cause I don't think I will volunteer to do that any time soon haha.

My favourite part was going into the butterfly tent as they get to fly around naturally and it's just so calming in there. We then just had a walk around and managed to get back to the car just before the heavens opened. I need more days like this as I'm losing my mind being stuck at home with no job and no money!!

Hope you've had a great weekend!

I seem to be liking black recently..

Exciting news I've been accepted for the EtailPR Blogger Network (check them out on the banner in the side bar). I'm hoping this is the start of an exciting journey for my blog. I'm still new to this so let's see what happens!!
I was asked to look at some of the companies and write a post about one. When exploring the companies that work within the network I came across Little Mistress and found some gems I would love to own. I think the pieces on the website are really on trend and at affordable prices which is a bonus for everyone!

I seem to be digging black at the moment. It's the only colour I want to wear right now. I really liked some of the more evening related pieces that I would love to wear to an event, or a night out.
The black jumpsuit I really like !! Although it looks like a more dressy jumpsuit I think it has a sense of comfort about it. The elasticated waist means it would be easy to wear. I have wanted a black jumpsuit for a while now but have never got round to finding one I really like. The mesh panel at the top adds interest and I think adds a touch of sexiness to it (wolf whistles).  I love how the model has been styled in it on the website.
Oh the black dress, I'm in love!! It's soooo pretty! It's so elegant yet has a sense of edginess. I particularly love the black lace detailing on the back. It has that Gothic vibe that I am very much a fan of. I would love to wear this to an important event such as my uni summer ball. You can add colour with accessories or play with a lip colour. I would love to pair this with a vampy dark red lip (feeling Jenny Humphrey vibes from Gossip Girl).

Think I'm going to have to make a purchase or two in the future from Little Mistress! I would highly recommend checking out their site!

Dark eyeshadow

Sunday 17 August 2014

Bit of a random post... I've been looking in my make up collection recently and feel like I need to mix up things a bit. I am loving dark eye shadow looks at the moment. It could be my inner Goth side coming out haha! I wear neutral eye shadows all the time but I've been seeing many images of like dark brown/ black smoky eyes and I really want to try it. Personally I really like my eyes, they're probably one of the only things I like about me (not meaning to sound pessimistic I have low self confidence). So I love putting make up on to emphasise them. Don't think I can pull it off everyday but for a night out I think it's be perfect. The images above I found online and just really liked the make up
I've been catching up on WWE and I just love Paige's whole look (pictured above). She always wears dark make up so I'm feeling kind of inspired. I just want to look like her in all honesty ha! So I'm currently debating whether to stay up and watch Summerslam tonight (don't think it starts till midnight UK time). I'm heading out for drinks with my friends tonight so I'll come in from a few drinks and maybe start watching it. I did it for Wrestlemania back in April I stayed up till 4 am and it was worth it! But let's face it I like my sleep way too much!! (old lady alert)

Hope your all having a wonderful weekend

Summertime Blues

Thursday 14 August 2014

Top- New Look
Black leggings- Asos
Shoes- Primark
Necklace- Regal Rose
Hair- wild

I'm going through a phase at the moment where I dislike pretty much everything in my wardrobe. I'm looking at loads of things thinking why the hell did you buy that! I rediscovered this baby blue short sleeved jumper I bought in the spring time from New Look. It's slightly colder here and raining as I am typing this. So I felt like it was acceptable to wear a jumper even though it's suppose to be August. I love wearing my black tube pants (how they're described on the Asos website). Not gonna lie when I first got them bloody hell they were uncomfortable. The waistband has like no give in it. However I've persisted and now they are actually quite loose around the waist. Either I've lost some weight or they've stretched (I'll just tell myself the first option) haha! My necklace I bought from the clothes show live a couple of years back from the Regal and Rose stall that was there.
I think the title of this is appropriate as sadly I'm having to chuck these pair of shoes. There is somehow a massive crack through the sole making them unwearable. Can we please just have a moment to mourn the shoes....
I now want some actual Doc Marten style brogues.
Now I'm gonna go back to convincing myself to do some work even though it's not going to happen and listening to Lower than Atlantis. My personal favourite song right now is Here We Go, have a listen if you want!

Festival Wishlist

Tuesday 12 August 2014

So as everyone knows festival season is well under way. Around now is the time I'm usually getting excited about heading to Reading festival. But unfortunately due to lack of funds I'm not going and honestly feel like I am going to go into a state of depression. Next year I'll be there again!! Anyways I love love love festival fashion!! I wish I could pull off half the trends I see. Above are pieces that I would love to buy if I was going to a festival this year. They are all from the wonderful Asos which is my favourite online store.
I picked the embroided black skater dress as it's quite simple, looks extremely comfortable and has hints of colour in it. I personally really enjoy wearing a dress as there really easy to chuck on and look nice without actually putting any effort in.
The black cut out boots are simple to wear and the heel is pretty small so should fingers crossed be comfy. Plus they will go with all outfits.
The denim shorts are a classic! They are high waisted and a mom style so slightly loose fitting. There a decent length. I literally hate the whole trend of girls wearing shorts that show off their bums! I had a competition with my mates last year at Reading counting how many girls bums you could see, got well into the double figures haha.
The Good Vibes T-shirt I adore (and apparently everyone else does as it's nearly sold out). I love items of clothing that express positivity. I'm naturally a pessimistic person but at a festival I always feel so happy and care free. I feel like it's an appropriate shirt for me and just reminds everyone to have a great time whilst seeing live music! Plus the cute pom pom detailing around the bottom gives a fun twist.
A Fedora with an elephant band on it nough said.
The brown suede bag is a must have for me. Fringing has been one of my favourite trends throughout my teenage years. This could be due to my love for the 1920's and I remember seeing Vanessa Hudgens have a brown bag with fringing on and just feel in love with her boho style (proud high school musical obsessive here). Practicality wise it may not be the best but it would look amazing!
The kimono is simply beautiful!! Again little bit of fringing (you can't have to much right). I love the bold shades used and chose this one as it looks light/airy. A kimono is great to just throw on and feel in the festival spirit.

I obviously would choose some hair accessories and jewellery as well but didn't want to over do. Maybe I can do a separate one for small acccesories and things if anyone would like to see it.

Are any of you heading to a festival this year??

Bright lips say what?!?

Friday 8 August 2014

Trust me to pick a magazine page with the word sweaty in the middle of it aha :/

Orange Punch

Peach on the Beach
What's this, Katie trying bright shades on her lips?? I'm still not use to it but I am venturing into new looks. I love the Bourjois colour boosts. They are really moisturising on the lips which is something I really appreciate!! They also have pretty decent staying power. I've never actually found anything that has such a prominent colour. I think it's me not having the skills of applying lip sticks/ crayon/glosses properly :P

I've had the shade Peach on the beach for a while and it's a lovely coral colour. It's literally what the name describes, a beautiful pink coral colour. And I now really want to wear it to the beach.

Orange Punch is quite a new purchase and it is so gorgeous! I've always wanted to try orange lips but been too afraid. This orange is perfect for a beginner as it's not to in your face but still makes an impact. Obviously the more layers you put on the more intense the orange is. It has a glossy finish to so looks really nice. I think it's such a refreshing shade for summer.

I have really enjoyed trying new shades out in lip colours particularly for summer. As I've been wearing so much black and white lately I think the pop of colour really adds something.

What shades of the Bourjois colour boosts would you recommend?

Also I need tips on how to make lip colour more long lasting cause clearly I'm doing something wrong haha

Covered in Elephants

Monday 4 August 2014

jumpsuit- New Look (in the sale)
Fedora hat- H&M
Sandals- New Look

Elephant prints appear to be my thing at the moment, I constantly wear the skirt I got from Asos that features them and now I have this amazing jumpsuit. Every time I've gone into New Look recently I've seen it but never bothered to try it on. Once I saw it was on sale in my local store I knew I had to get it. It comes with a black studded belt too but I wanted to be extra comfy. Thank god for the elasticated waist. oh and added bonus it has pockets, WIN!  Today I went for a little venture into London to a couple of museums to do research for my third year project so I needed something that was comfortable to wear. It felt like the perfect mix of comfort but still looking 'trendy' (fyi I don't believe I am trendy at all). Being obsessed with blogging and watching Youtubers I have seen many of my favourite people wearing Fedora hats. I finally took the plunge and bought one a few weeks ago from H&M and I'm not going to lie I love it. I didn't realise how much people looked if you wore a hat, I definitely caught a few people staring on the train I got. Is it really that unusual for someone to wear a hat?? My sandals are a dream! Well saying that my feet are kinda paying the price now  ( hence why I'm not wearing them in the photos) but I'm still breaking them in. Plus my feet are so weak its getting quite worrying now :/. My mum actually spotted them and I just instantly had to have them. I love a chunky pair of sandals and with the cream colour I think they tick all the right boxes for summer.

I need to get some better background for outfit photos I know but right now I have to work with what I can :)

Thanks for reading

Daisies Galore

Sunday 3 August 2014

This summer it's been all about daisy prints and anything that has a daisy on it. Not only clothes but with fragrance as well :) I thought I'd picture some of the items I own that I've been loving.
The first is a clutch bag from New Look that my friend kindly got for me for my birthday whilst on a shopping trip. I've used this a few times now and I love it. There's plenty of room for the essentials for a night out such as phone, lippy etc. I love the 3D detailing of the daisies.
Awwww Daisy by Marc Jacobs how I love you!! This is hands down my favourite perfume I've ever owned. At first I only wanted to save it for special occasions but it's quickly escalated into me wearing it everyday. I think it's the perfect balance between being strongly scented  but not to overpowering. I've now got my eye on the Dream scent and I really want to get my hands on it :) Probably doesn't help me watching all the Dream tag video's all over YouTube.
The daisy chain head garland I got at Reading Festival last year. I always feel like I need a floral crown esque item. I loved this one as it was simple and not to in your face. I'm now going into a state of depression as I'm not attending Reading this year :'( I feel like it's a prominent part of my year now aha.

Anyone else loving Daisies right now??
