I Take My Hat Off To Ya

Friday 6 February 2015

For a long time I used to be so scared of even attempting to wear any form of a hat. But now try and stop me. The ultimate reason for me wearing a hat is on a bad hair day which I seem to be experiencing a lot lately. My hair is just pissing me off currently, I haven't had a good hair day in forever. I swear it's only the last couple of years where hats have exploded onto the scene. I mean
they are everywhere in shops and blogs. The main reason why I started venturing in to hats was watching Jen from Clothes Encounters on YouTube. I've been a long time subscriber to her and this girl can rock all kinds of headwear. If you haven't ever watched her then check out her channel :) I was inspired.

I started off by wearing beanies in the colder months in my first year of uni. The black beanie from H&M was the first hat I ever bought and wore religiously. I still wear it now some days. It's simple but I like it for that exact reason. The second beanie I absolutely adore. It's from a company called Step Up HQ who I believe sadly aren't going anymore. Step Up was an ethical clothing company created by Rou Reynolds (singer of Enter Shikari, yes I am mentioning them again) and I love the positive messages their clothing showcased. It made a change from company logo's, names and tacky sayings being splashed everywhere. This hat is seriously so warm and soft. I love it! It does have a tendency to rise up on my head quite a bit so I look like Dappy from NDubz but hey I can rock that look right??

My Fedora is my baby. I bought this back in the summer and I just am in love. Never in a million years did I think I could pull it off but people say I can. I guess I will leave that up to you to decide. But I don't think it looks that bad on me haha.  It just spices up any outfit no matter how plain or casual it adds something else. I know want one in a different colour, I'm thinking grey or like a wine colour. Anyone want to point me in the right direction?

Finally my bowler hat I haven't worn as much but I still love it. The main reason I bought this was because it reminded me of Charlie Chaplin, that guy just makes me happy. Fun fact I've seen his original costume in person and I just couldn't stop smiling. The battered hems on the trousers and everything it was just perfect. Anyway going way off point, this hat is also really easy to wear, definitely need to bust it out a bit more.

I've quite frankly  had enough of uni this week, this is definitely a time that is set to test me and my patience. I'd quite like to just run away and go off into hibernation. I don't think that's acceptable right?? C'est la vie. I'm currently listening to BB King to calm me down a bit, I need a bit more old school jazz and blues in my life. Such good music man <3
